About JiveSlide

Something Profound


We are a software development company owned and operated by software developers. JiveSlide was created based on a real need that we have as mobile professionals. All of us at JiveSlide rely on our BlackBerries to stay connected to each other and to our clients every day. We depend on timely and reliable communication when we are in the office and when on the road and we understand the need for simplicity.

As users, we saw an opportunity to extend that communication and simplicity by integrating a easy-to-use and hassle-free photo viewing tool that we could use in our day- to-day professional lives. We work in the real world, with real limitations on our time, and we look to effective technologies to give us the flexibility we need to do the things we do with greater ease. The impetus for JiveSlide came from our frustration with how complex and tedious the process was of loading images onto our BlackBerries. We all have digital cameras and we have photographs that we would like to view or show friends. We use JiveSlide daily because, like our BlackBerries, it meets our needs and just plain works.

 

Management Team


Eric Dewhirst, President, CEO

Eric holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, Urban and Regional Planning (Honours), Minor in Geographical Information Systems, from University of Waterloo, obtained in 1992.

Eric has always been on the forefront of Internet technologies, being one of the early pioneers in Internet Based mapping from his time at the National Atlas of Canada in 1994. From there, he owned and operated a successful software development firm called Cymbiont Inc. which was acquired in the late 1990s by Internet startup Lasoo LLC. He subsequently held the position of Chief Technical Officer in the new company and was part of the management team that successfully secured venture capital and took the startup's product to market. He remained with Lasoo LLC until its sale to Overture in 2002. Since then, along with James Lee, he has successfully owned and operated HGN Inc., a software development firm concentrating on Internet-based data warehousing and handheld applications development.

James Lee, CTO

James holds a Bachelor of Mathematics (Combinatorics and Optimisation, Computer Science), from University of Waterloo, obtained in 1987.

James has built a career out of following his passion for computers and his overwhelming fascination for all things digital. In his early professional years he was involved in developing advanced database systems for Statistics Canada which led him into building online expert systems for the web. Joining up forces with Eric in the 1990’s James was instrumental in building Cymbiont Inc. and added the special ingredient that caught the eye of investors. After the sale of Cymbiont to Lasoo, James was responsible for integrating high-speed spatial searching into the Lasoo engine. When Lasoo was sold to Overture, James and Eric focused their attention on creating enterprise data warehousing solutions with an eye to integrating emerging handheld wireless tools for mobile users.
